Gloo acquires faith-focused creative media company, Igniter

Strategic acquisition enhances the Gloo mission of empowering churches with next-generation media and AI-driven ministry tools

BOULDER, Colo. —  Gloo, a technology platform serving the faith and flourishing ecosystem, announced its acquisition of Igniter, a media company with more than two decades of experience equipping churches with innovative creative solutions. This strategic acquisition combines digital infrastructure and AI capabilities from Gloo with Igniter’s extensive library of high-quality media, empowering churches of every size to communicate the Gospel with greater excellence, clarity and ease.

Founded in 2003, Igniter has been a pioneer in church media, offering sermon illustration videos, graphics for services and social media, and a stock media marketplace through its Igniter Media and Lightstock brands. With its membership lineup, Igniter connects churches to the libraries of a large network of church media creators, including popular hand-picked producers and more than 1,700 individual contributors that upload fresh content daily. With this extensive and diverse creative network, Igniter has built a reputation as a trusted guide through major shifts in church communication — from the overhead projector era to today’s evolving AI landscape.

By joining the Gloo family, Igniter strengthens the Gloo mission to serve church leaders with the tools and resources they need to thrive in today’s ever-evolving world.

“Today’s generation is being discipled by screens,” said Brad Hill, president of Gloo Media Network. “As churches seek to engage a younger demographic, it’s imperative that every church is equipped with effective tools to convey their message. They need beautiful media that aligns with biblical values and leverages current technology. Together with Igniter Media and a growing network of Gloo capital partners, we are committed to serving those who serve by equipping people and communities to flourish on Sunday and beyond.”

Following the acquisition, Igniter will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Gloo. Igniter will continue to provide the same guidance for churches and creative excellence that has defined its reputation over the past two decades. While founder and CEO of Igniter, Rob Thomas, will step down from his role, current president and COO Ross Moshell will lead Igniter moving forward, having served as an integral part of the leadership team for the last nine years.

“For over 20 years, Igniter has poured its creativity into serving the Church, helping leaders communicate the Gospel with clarity and creative excellence,” said Moshell. “I’m grateful for the years of vision and pioneering leadership from Rob as we head into this new stage, carrying forward the same core values and mission that our partners know and trust — now with more fuel to serve the Church. With Gloo, we gain capital, technology, and missional alignment to expand our product offering, reach and innovation, further empowering us to serve as a trusted guide for churches as they embrace the future of media and AI.”

Already, work is underway to provide Igniter and Gloo customers combined value through visually enhanced AI discipleship tools, physical/digital product bundles, and using Igniter’s vast library of media to further train Gloo’s AI models.

Together, Gloo and Igniter will provide churches with a seamless blend of world-class creative assets and values-aligned AI tools — ensuring pastors, creatives and communicators can save time, elevate excellence and drive deeper ministry impact even among the youngest generation.
