The Religion News Association, the premiere professional association for those who report on religion in the news, is launching a new program for emerging journalists. The cohort will meet for regular virtual events, including monthly social hours and quarterly educational sessions. It will be an opportunity for student journalists, early career journalists and second-career journalists to build camaraderie and receive insights specific to the religion beat.

“This cohort is an engaging new way to equip journalists with the tools and resources they need to cover religion with balance, accuracy and insight,” said RNA president Ken Chitwood. “RNA couldn’t be more excited about the connections, conversations and collaborations that will come out of this program.”

Amid an ever-evolving media landscape where in-depth religion reporting is as critical as ever, this new cohort aims to be a resource-rich network. It will also be a source of support at a time when many journalists are experiencing isolation and burnout.

The emerging journalists cohort is open to RNA members. Recent graduates should contact Liam Adams at lajournalism@outlook.com for a discounted membership rate.
